LET’S GET INTO CHARACTER
Each morning when I wake up, and apply my outerly sparkle, I view the day as an opportunity to play. What character shall I be today? This makes things interesting, and detaches the need to perfectly represent “you”. Because you don’t have to be “you” everyday. It takes away the fuss.
Some days I am a 1920’s gangster in a 3-piece tailored pinstripe suit. Others I’m a hip-hop Aliah circa 1995 vibe, or a y2k etherel fairy Blumarine girlie. And it can’t really be planned, its all vibe based. However, I can pre-set characters in my mind to rotate through (the mind of a creative).
So, every mid-September when I feel that fall tingle, the bright Pucci pattern silks are traded for boots, knits & furs. And each time I sniff the first brisk evening of the season, I decide on a seasonal…main character. As an Italian-heritaged woman myself, this fall/winter I’ve settled my main vibe as, what the Milanese dialect refers to as, a “sciura”. AKA an older Milanese woman of luxury, refinement, and pure class. Her cloud of fragrance greets you before she does. Think fur stoles, silk scarves, pearls and brooches with a bright leather tote on one arm and a perfectly manicured tiny doggie on her other. Her energy is unbothered; she glides, she does not rush.
Her jewelry? Fine.
Her knit? Cashmere.
Her shoes? Italian leather.
Her gaze? Penetrating and mildly judgmental, but in a chic way. We love her. We need her. Each of us ARE a bit of her.
What’s your vibe for the season?
